Why Are My Teeth Chipping Easily

Posted on 12/23/2021 by Evan
Why Are My Teeth Chipping EasilyIt can be unsettling and uncomfortable when dealing with chipped teeth. You are likely to have a tooth chipped as you get older because with age, you are more vulnerable especially if you aren't taking proper care of them. This is something that eventually happens to everyone during their lifetime.

Things That Lead To Chipping Teeth

Teeth Grinding. Grinding your teeth is detrimental to your oral health. Teeth grinding is also known as bruxism. Grinding your teeth constantly erodes your tooth enamel and makes them more susceptible to chipping. Most people don't even realize they are grinding their teeth when they are. It usually occurs when you are sleeping so you aren't aware that you are even doing it. Getting a mouth guard customized for your mouth is a good way to reduce the effects of grinding your teeth. Using a mouth guard will significantly reduce the pressure on your teeth while grinding during sleep. While it helps with teeth grinding, a mouth guard also doubles as a retainer and helps keep your teeth in their correct position.

Not getting enough nutrients for your teeth is also another cause for them to chip. If you aren't getting adequate amounts of fluoride and calcium, you wont have a healthy set of teeth. Fluoride and calcium protect and strengthen your teeth from being decayed as a result from bacteria in your mouth. Decayed teeth are more susceptible to chipping because they are weaker. Consume enough milk and dairy products that are good for your teeth. Make sure you are brushing your teeth everyday with a fluoride toothpaste.

Chewing on hard things also damages your teeth because your teeth are meant to chew on soft foods. But, chewing on fingernails, ice, and jawbreakers can eventually result in damaged teeth that can end up chipping and break off.
